In the current heatwave please think about the fact that your dog's paws can be burnt on hot pavements. A simple test is try standing on the pavement in your bare feet or use the back of your hand - if the pavement is hot then don't walk your dog on it.
Another surface to take care is on artificial grass. As this is plastic / nylon it retains the heat, so if it feels hot to your touch, it will also be hot for your dog if walking on it.
Keep an eye on their paws and walk them in cooler parts of the day.
