Join us for our annual fun day! It's sure to be a great day.

Fun Dog Show, Have a go Agility, Food & Refreshments, Raffle & Auction, Kids Activities, Dogs Trust Merchandise, stalls.

Blue-green algae warning

Blue-green algae is most common in lakes and fresh water ponds and can be worse in hot weather when there is little rain to disperse it. Toxins from blue-green algae can seriously affect a dog's liver function and can have long term damage or be fatal.

The symptons to watch for are vomiting, diarrohoea, drooling, weakness, collapse, disorientation, fitting, seizures, difficulty breathing.

Be aware of hot pavements

In the current heatwave please think about the fact that your dog's paws can be burnt on hot pavements. A simple test is try standing on the pavement in your bare feet or use the back of your hand - if the pavement is hot then don't walk your dog on it.

Another surface to take care is on artificial grass. As this is plastic / nylon it retains the heat, so if it feels hot to your touch, it will also be hot for your dog if walking on it.

GCDS Silver Award Success

Congratulations to the 7 members and dogs who all passed their Good Citizens Dog Scheme Silver Award last week. You all did really well, despite the fact that it was still very warm in the evening. Thanks also to Phil from Wakefield Dog Training Club who was our examiner for the test.

Roadworks at Club

Please take care if coming training tonight as there are roadworks and a large hole directly at the end of the driveway down to the church. It is only passable with care for smaller cars!

Appeal to find stolen dog

Police are appealing for help locating a pregnant French bull terrier taken in a burglary.

On Thursday at 4.15pm suspects smashed a window and entered an address in Calderstone Avenue, Buttershaw. They took two dogs in the burglary.

One of the dogs has since been recovered by officers and a 47-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the burglary.

Police are now appealing to anyone who may know the whereabouts of the other dog, a pregnant French bull terrier.
